Entrainment The Key To Understanding How Astrology Works

This is possibly the most important law because it contains an explanation as to how everything in the universe, animate or inanimate, can be connected to each other.

As modern science endorses, everything in the universe is comprised of a swirling mass of energy. Dr Seymour believes that the resonance between the tidal tug (due to gravity), of the very hot gases trapped in the magnetic field of the Sun and Earth, and resonance between the resulting fluctuations of the Earth's magnetic field and the electrical activity of the neural network in the brain, are what link celestial firmly to terrestrial.

Basically Dr Seymour confirms the theory of harmonics put forward by John Addey in 1975: All astrological effects can be understood in terms of the harmonics of cosmic periods. This frees astrology from its somewhat limiting twelve-fold straightjacket and allows us to understand how new planets can be discovered without changing the fundamental basis of astrological thought and practice. Resonant theory (harmonics) is the Holy Grail for astrologers because there is no astrological doctrine in classical or modern astrology which cannot be explained by it.

It also explains why we attract certain events, or people, to us who reflect the state of our consciousness. Thus, when we are angry we are more likely to attract the violence or car accident which we are resonating with. More positively, it is the explanation for miraculous events in that we 'entrain' ourselves to good unfolding when our thoughts are constantly kept at the higher vibration, or frequency, of love and happy outcomes.

Each planet and star in the Cosmos possesses its own vibratory frequency. Every object and every word spoken also has its own signature vibratory frequency, as does every living thing. Mars vibrates to a frequency similar to the number 16 -which in turn vibrates to the colour of crimson; which vibrates to Iron; which vibrates to the gem Ruby; which vibrates to the musical tone C Major, which vibrates to the flower hollyhock etc., etc. This is the basis of the astrological principle of correspondence.

Radical Responsibility The Inner Path to Global Healing

Earth is currently in the midst of a massive change cycle that will affect every form of life on the planet by the end of 2012. How do we do that?

Dr. David R. Hawkins, perhaps the most profound teacher on the evolution of human consciousness today, says that everything we see happening around us, is the consequence of that which we are. “Every thought, action, decision or feeling creates an eddy in the interlocking, inter-balancing, ever-moving energy fields of life, leaving a permanent record for all time,” he says.

We therefore change the world not by what we say or do, but as a consequence of what we become.

As did Gandhi and other evolved bings, Hawkins teaches that the most effective way of bringing about change in the world around us, is by living our lives like a prayer and becoming the very change we wish to see.

To illustrate the power of becoming, I’d like to tell you about one man in Hawaii who changed his world simply by living his life like a prayer, becoming the highest expression of being that he was capable of.

This man, Dr. Ihaleakala Hew Len, cured a complete ward of criminally insane patients - without ever seeing any of them! He simply studied each inmate's chart and then looked within himself to see how he created that person's illness. As he improved himself, the patient improved.

When I first heard this story, I thought it was an urban legend. How could anyone heal anyone else by healing himself? How could even the best therapist cure the criminally insane?

I had always understood "total responsibility" to mean that I am responsible for what I think and do. Beyond that, it's out of my hands. Most people think of total responsibility that way. We're responsible for what we do, not for what anyone else does. Dr. Len practiced radical responsibility and the miracles that followed, were ample proof of the power in this perspective.

When Dr. Len joined the staff at the ward for criminally insane at Hawaii State Hospital, it was well-known as a dangerous place. Psychologists quit on a monthly basis. Staff called in sick a lot or simply quit. Workers would scurry through that ward with their backs against the wall, afraid of being attacked by patients. It was a nightmarish place to live in, work at, or visit.

During his four-year tenure at the hospital, Dr. Len never saw patients. He simply agreed to have an office and to review their files. While he looked at those files, he would work on himself. As he worked on himself, patients began to heal.

"After a few months, patients that had to be shackled were being allowed to walk freely," he says. "Others who had to be heavily medicated were getting off their medications. And those who had no chance of ever being released, were being freed."

Not only that, but the staff began to enjoy going to work. Absenteeism and turnover dropped. Eventually, there was no longer a need for the ward and it was closed.

What work did Dr. Len do within himself that caused those people to change?

He was simply healing the part of himself that created them.

To make sense of this radical concept, you need to understand that total responsibility for your life means that everything in your life is your responsibility simply because it is in your life. In a literal sense, the entire world you perceive out there is simply a reflection of what is inside you, and therefore it is your creation. There is no “out there” there – what you perceive as out there is simply a reflection of what is in your heart and in your consciousness.

This concept can be hard to swallow. Being responsible for what I say or do is one thing. Being responsible for what everyone in my life says or does is quite another, right! Yet you can only heal that which you take responsibility for. If you take complete responsibility for your life, then everything you see, hear, taste, touch or experience is your responsibility because it is in your life.

This means terrorist activity, the government, the crime rate, the economy - everything you experience and don't like - is up to you to heal. Seen from the world of consciousness, they only exist as projections from inside of you. The problem isn't with them, it's with you, and to change them, you have to change you!

This concept is central to understanding the field of human consciousness. We change the world not by what we say or do, but as a consequence of what we have become.

The Course In Miracles teaches the same principle when it says, “Seek not to change the world, but choose to change your mind about the world. What you see reflects your thinking. And your thinking but reflects your choice of what you want to see.” Why is it difficult for us to grasp this truth, let alone accept or actually live it? Because blaming another is far easier than taking total responsibility. To change the world, we need to first stop blaming others!

In his work with the criminally insane, Dr. Len never focused on blame. Instead, his radical practice of total responsibility was rooted in a deep sense of compassionate self-love. Dr. Len believed that if you want to improve your life, you have to first heal your life. If you want to heal anyone - even a mentally ill criminal - you do it by healing yourself.

He recognized the Divinity within himself as well as within every other person that crossed his path. And just as the Course in Miracles teaches, Dr. Len recognized that every situation, properly perceived, becomes an opportunity to heal. By recognizing the Divine nature of each being, he responded in compassion by taking responsibility for whatever did not reflect the purity of Divine consciousness in himself.

This is what Gandhi implied when he said, “The only devils in this world are those running around inside our own hearts, and that is where all our battles should be fought.”

How did Dr. Len do this radical work? Simply by looking at each patient’s file with deep compassion, accepting responsibility for their condition and saying, 'I'm sorry' and 'I love you' over and over again.

That's it!

This simple response embodies the core of all healing and evolution in consciousness. It starts from a place of deep compassion for self, progresses to radical self-responsibility for everything in one’s life, moves into forgiveness to dissolve false perceptions, and ends with the healing power of love to restore all to Divine perfection.

As we heal the wounds within ourselves that cause illusions of lack, duality, opposition and fear, our consciousness evolves to becoming a purer reflection of the indwelling Divinity. This work also raises the level of consciousness in the world around us. It is indeed through healing and transforming ourselves, that we transform the world!

When you start living from this place of radical responsibility as Dr. Len did, your life becomes a prayer. Polarities dissolve, archetypal shadows can be integrated, and the illusions of the mind yield to the freedom of your true, Divine nature.

This is the opportunity calling to every soul on the planet today. We are asked to become the very change we wish to see. To heal our world and safely navigate through coming changes, we are challenged to take full responsibility for everything in our lives and to align with Higher Truth.

Why Do Astrological Predictions Go Wrong?

"I have studied it, you have not!", is the famous retort of Sir Isaac Newton when confronted by Edmond Halley, his student on the master's belief in astrology. There are those who protest that astrology is not a science since it does not conform to the principle of falliability. Every hypothesis is true till it is proved otherwise. Yet, there are people who swear by astrology. They would consult the stars endlessly on each and every issue and would let themselves be driven by their astrologer guides.

What will happen tomorrow? - is a query that can never be answered by any science or art other than astrology. Science is about what has or can happen in the light of well-doctrined principles. A doctor can tell the state of a living being at a given time with all the tests performed and possibly expect improvement in health or otherwise. From times immemorial, it has been the seer who was relied upon. Nostradamus' prophecies or Brahammam's predictions are known the world over. There is criticism that most often astrological predictions fail and hence, people lose faith in the claims of astrologers. The reasons are not hard to seek!

Firstly, astrology has not evolved much from the age-old days. Still in India, people are trying to decipher old texts or translate them from Sanskrit. The mystery of 'Nadi Astrology' (predictions written on Palmyrah leaves) is not yet fully solved though some had made investigations. The owners of these leaves would not let out the secrets to anyone except their kith and kin for fear of losing their livelihood. The principle appears to be that all planetary positions in a horoscope will repeat after an interval and so will the destinies of people.

Secondly, there is no formal education in occult subjects, though, a few universities have, of late, initiated some diploma courses. Most of the astrologers learn by self-study while approach a Guru. Proficiency levels vary and are also questionable. Some have 'discovered' some opinions based on statistics while some have claimed that their understanding is superior to others. There are different aspects in Indian Astrology like 'Hora Shastra','Stree Jataka','Nashta Jataka', 'Muhurtha','Prasna' etc. There are also different methods and systems like 'Parasari','Jaimini','Kala Chakra' etc. Complete mastery even in one school of thought differentiates the best from the beast!

Thirdly, there are many assumptions and presumptions which are ignored. Basically, three data are essential :- Time of Birth, Date of Birth and Place of Birth. After casting the horoscope either by computer or manually, the astrologer gets ready to judge and predict based on a set of principles. But there are issues! First, what is meant by time of birth? Is it the first cry of the baby, or is it the touching of ground, or is it the time when the umbilical cord is cut? It has also been opined that the time of conception is more important. Second, there is a dispute about the 'ayanamsa' or precession. Most of the astrologers adopt the value given by Lahiri. The late Dr.B.V.Raman had advocated the 'Raivatha Paksha Ayanamsa'. Krishnamurthy had given another. The Western counter-part is lucky in that he follows the 'Sayana' method wherein the first point of Aries is considered movable. In other words, a horoscope casted by the Western Tropical method (Sayana), say, locates Jupiter in Aries,in the other chart casted by the Eastern Sidereal method (Nirayana) may place it in Pisces!

Muhurtha An Auspicious Moment Of Time Indian Vedic Astrology

Muhurtha (Electional Astrology) is a branch of Indian Astrology dealing with fixing of 'auspicious moments of time' for conducting important and sacred ceremonies. One can find Indians referring a 'Panchang' or consulting an astrologer for a 'muhurat' when they either want to conduct an important ceremony like marriage, 'upanayan' (thread ceremony for 'Brahmins'),'gruha pravesh' (house warming) etc. or when they would like to embark upon an important work. Even politicians and government departments would consult their pet astrologer and fix a muhurtha for oath-taking or inauguration ceremonies!

Astrology has a necessary relation with time. It deals with the effects of planetary motions including the sun and the moon. Its basic tenet is the confirmed scientific fact of the effects of radiation on all terrestrial phenomena. That the Hindus discovered it ages before is a testimony to the intelligence and accomplishments of that generation. The effect of sun's rays on biological activity and those of the moon on psychological processes is well-established. Agricultural activities like planting, cultivation, growth, maturity and harvest are all dependent upon seasonal changes and solar radiation.

What is muhurtha? Why is it important? This can be better understood with regard to its role in astrology. General horoscopy deals with predictions about a native with regard to the time he or she was born. It is static, fixed and beyond one's control or determination. On the other hand, muhurtha is dynamic. One can choose the most suitable or auspicious times at different stages of life where there are chances of changes in one's destiny. Thus a marriage performed on a particular day may change the course of one's life. This is not superstition. A marriage taking place at an inauspicious time can lead to disastrous consequences or divorce or life-long agony. According to the late Dr.B.V.Raman, the greatest Indian astrologer of the modern age, "While horoscopy prescribes, muhurtha remedies". Muhurtha is prescriptive as well as preventive. The deficiencies noticed in a natal chart can be overcome with the proper application of muhurtha. Thus a child diagnosed (astrologically) as weak in education can be initiated into alphabet learning or first sent to school at an auspicious moment.

Muhurtha, essentially means two 'ghatis' or forty-eight minutes. The essential elements comprise 'tithi'(lunar day),'vara'(weekday),'nakshatra' (constellation),'yoga'(joint motion of sun and moon amounting to multiples of 800 angular minutes) and 'karana'(half a lunar day). These five elements collectively are called 'panchang', that is, 'five limbs'. In considering 'tithi', generally the 4th,6th,8th,12th,14th,full moon('pournami') and new moon ('amavasya') are avoided. In some parts of South India, New Moon day is believed to be auspicious. In regard to 'vara', in general Tuesday and Saturday are considered inauspicious though they are valid for surgical operations. One should note that in Indian Astrology, the weekday is said to commence from sunrise. Of the twenty-seven 'nakshtras', Bharani and Krittika are avoided for all works as they are said to be presided over by Yama, the lord of death. In 'yoga', the 6th,9th,10th,17th and 27th are inauspicious. Of the 'karanas', 'bhadra' is the most unwanted while 'bava' and 'thaithula' are very auspicious.

Cubs should look into Astrology

Manager Phil Garner was getting hit with a barrage of questions regarding the trade rumors surrounding Astros ace Roger Clemens, who was expected to be wearing a Yankees or Red Sox uniform by the July 31 trade deadline. Having no luck dodging the questions, Garner tried a little humor.

"All we have to do is be in the pennant race by [the deadline]," Garner said, chuckling at the absurdity of his own remark.

The date was May 24. The Astros were at rock bottom in 2005 -- weighed down by a 15-30 record after a loss to the Cubs at Wrigley Field.

The Astros were second-to-last in the National League wild-card standings, ahead of only the Rockies. Garner was a safer bet to be fired before Clemens could be traded. A pennant race and the Astros didn't figure to be mentioned in the same sentence again this season -- not with Clemens complaining of a groin injury, Lance Berkman returning slowly from a shredded right knee and Jeff Bagwell ailing with a sore right shoulder.

Then the Astros did what they seem to do best. They awoke from their slumber and made a charge for the playoffs, just as they had done in 2004, when they went 36-10 at the end of the regular season to snatch the wild card away from the bumbling Cubs.

As they open a three-game series against the Cubs tonight at Minute Maid Park, where Houston is 39-18, the Astros are the NL wild- card leaders -- by a half-game over the Phillies -- with a 63-54 record. The Cubs are closer to last place in the NL Central than to catching the Astros, but they still dream of claiming the wild card.

The Astros have become the success story used as inspiration by every underachieving team in baseball -- notably the Cubs.

The difference between this year's Astros and the 2004 edition that reached Game 7 of the NL Championship Series is a lineup that looks far less intimidating. Offensive weapons such as Carlos Beltran and Jeff Kent left before the season started. Bagwell has been out since May 4 and underwent shoulder surgery on June 7, though he hopes to return in September.

The rotation has carried the club, but Clemens, 43, has been bothered by back pain during his last four starts, and right-hander Brandon Backe has been on the disabled list since July 25 -- with no timetable for a return -- because of a strained abdominal muscle.

Rodriguez has won five of his last seven decisions but has an 8.51 ERA in six home starts.

Offensively, Bagwell is gone, but right fielder Jason Lane has surprisingly picked up the slack. Lane hit only .239 in the first half but has been a big part of the Astros' turnaround, hitting .368 (35-for-95) with 18 RBI since July 5. Rookie of the Year candidate Willy Taveras has replaced Beltran in center field. Taveras, 23, leads all major-league rookies in hits (131), runs (61), stolen bases (27) and singles (114).
